Get the most out of your short stay in Nuwara Eliya with a hiking tour to Kirigalpoththa which is the 2nd highest Mountain of Sri Lanka after Pidurutalagala. With a peak elevation of 2,388 meters above sea level, Kirigalpoththa is the highest point in the Horton Plains National Park and also the highest peak accessible to the public. This 7 K.M trail (one way) will take around 5 1/2 hours of trekking, hiking & mountaineering challenges.
You will be picked up early morning and transferred to Horton plains national park. On arrival, our nature guide will give you a brief description of the route and the hike.
Arrive at Horton Plains and start the hike. This mountain hike gives you a chance to climb up Kirigalpoththa, the second highest mountain in Sri Lanka. Feel the exhilaration of hiking up the mountain by a single overgrown trail with several difficult hiking and mountaineering sections. Pass through scenic grass plains, cloud forests, bogs and steep rocky surfaces.
Discover the exceedingly beautiful nature and varied wildlife in Horton Plains and Kirigalpoththa. Enjoy your picnic lunch in an outdoor location surrounded by the mountains. Take photographs of the best views. Sri Lankan Leopard & Sambur are the bigger wild animals you may sometimes come across; if you are lucky, you may even encounter a few endemic bird species as well.

Arrive back to the trail head where you will get in to your vehicle for the drive back to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
