Pinnawala elephant orphanage is the place which bears the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Known as the captive breeding place for wild Asian elephants, this orphanage provides the shelter to diseased, wounded and disabled elephants since 1975. There are more than 80 elephants have gained their birth at Pinnawala elephant orphanage up to date. You can witness baby elephants & also adult elephants moving around freely without harming to anyone. Today after breakfast, you will be able to enjoy a TukTuk Challenge. Doing a city tour by a TukTuk is the most interesting and easiest way to enjoy the sightseeing in the historical city of Kandy. Kandy, also Known as the hill capital or Hill country, is the last stronghold of Sinhalese kings after Portuguese, Dutch and British ruling periods. To the Buddhists of Sri Lanka and the World, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. After breakfast, you will be driven to Nuwara Eliya. On your way, you will see acres & acres of greenery, tea plantations all around. Step in to a tea factory and experience the glimpse of Ceylon tea making process and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea. Also visit Ramboda waterfalls. It is 109 m (358 ft.) high and has recommended as the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Altitude of the falls is 945m (3,100 ft.) above sea level. Don’t forget to visit Ramboda main waterfall at the downside of the Ramboda of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. Spend the evening with sightseeing in Nuwara Eliya. Known as Little England, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. Today after breakfast you will be transferred to Ella (Approx. 2 hrs. drive). On arrival, you will do a guided tour to visit 9 arch bridge. Located between Ella and Demodara railway stations, the nine-arch bridge is one of the most iconic bridges in Sri Lanka. This 99 feet high massive bridge has been built entirely of solid rocks, bricks, and cement without using a single piece of steel. When one stands underneath it and looks up there is a beautiful sight of ‘nine skies’ through the nine arches, hence it is also called as “Nine skies bridge” and “The Bridge in the sky”. Guards allow you to walk along the rails and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding environment. You will be so lucky if you get a chance to see a train traveling over the bridge. Taking a TukTuk ride to this wonderful place is one of the sightseeing activities that a tourist will rarely skip in Ella. Evening you will proceed to do a trekking in Little Adam’s peak. In the afternoon, you will do a trekking to Little Adam’s Peak which is the most famous tourism activity in Ella. As there is a similarity to the peak of the sacred Adams Peak where the foot print of Lord Buddha is preserved, this was named as the Little Adam’s Peak. You will walk through lush green tea plantations, and paddy fields while enjoying the sceneries. Witness the people who are plucking and collecting tea leaves in their estates. After the mood refreshing breakfast, you will board the train from Ella Railway for a scenic train journey to Haputhale station. On arrival to Haputale town, start the walk to the Adhisam Bungalow. You will walk by passing the tea plantations, jungles and villages who are selling the strawberries long the way. Adisham is a monastery run by Benedictine Monks. It is also named as St. Benedict's monastery. The pages of history reveal that the creator of this enthralling place is Sir Thomas Lister Villiers. Sir Thomas was born in 1869 in Adisham, an ancient village which lies in the hollow of the Kent country side. Wrapped in the tranquility of the misty hills, Adisham Bungalow attracts every eye that falls on it. In the afternoon, you will be walk back to Haputale station for your ride back to Ella. Today after breakfast you will be driven to Yala. En route you will do a guided village tour. Etili village is one of the beautiful agricultural villages in the hill country of Sri Lanka. The tour of Etili village has structured to give a unique experience about the traditional village agriculture with Chena cultivation & Paddy fields. As the village is surrounded by a jungle, wild animals like peacocks & Sri Lankan monkey can be seeing along the way. With bit of luck, wild elephants also can be seen. The lake in the village is a home to many reptiles and birds. You will have a scenic boat journey around the lake. Its lovely museums, jewellery shops, antiques, and the stunning views of the coast from the ramparts can easily be explored. Galle Fort is the main attraction in Galle. Galle Fort was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, and then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work was done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. The heritage value of the fort has been recognized by the UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a cultural heritage, UNESCO World Heritage Site, for its unique exposition of "an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
