You will be picked up from Colombo Harbor and travel to Kandy, stopping en route at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Established in 1975, Pinnawala is home to rescued elephants and a successful breeding program that began in 1984. Visitors can observe baby elephants being bottle-fed and see the herd bathing together in the nearby river—an unforgettable close-up wildlife experience.
On arrival to Kandy, take lunch at Oak-Ray Restaurant. After lunch, you will visit a Gem Lapidary and Wood Carving center.
After lunch, enjoy a city tour of Kandy including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, and a Gem Lapidary. Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former royal capital, was the last stronghold of Sri Lankan kings until 1815. Surrounded by scenic hills and a beautiful lake with the “Ulpenge” pavilion and “Kiri Samudraya” island, the city is now a vibrant center of Buddhism, culture, arts, and traditional heritage.
