Katunayake - Kalpitiya

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International airport, you will be warmly greeted by your very own chauffeur guide and transferred to Kalpitiya. On arrival in the hotel, spend the day at leisure relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities. Spend overnight at a Hotel in Kapitiya on Half Board Basis.

Kalpitiya - Kalpitiya

07.00: Breakfast at Hotel 07.30: Start the day early with a sunrise lagoon Tour at Kalpitiya Lagoon. Capture the serene lagoon waters, traditional fishing boats, and birdlife. Evening Free at leisure on the beach or engage with optional water activities Kitesurfing- Kitesurfing is available throughout the year in Kalpitiya; however wind conditions are best between May and October. Peak wind conditions are from June to August. Free transport is provided to the flat-water kite spots located 25 kms away or a 30 minute drive from the resorts. Kayaking Jet Skiing Spend overnight at a Hotel in Kapitiya on Half Board Basis Kalpitiya Lagoon Tour Your boat ride will take you across the pristine waters of the Lagoon in Kalpitiya towards the sand dunes and Salt Pans in the distance. The little fishing villages and local community living on the border of the Lagoon and the stretch between the lagoon and the mighty ocean will let you see the hard work the locals put in to earn their livelihood from the locally available natural resources. Shrimp farms which are a booming business in the Lagoon area of Kalpitiya can be observed in the distance. Wilpattu National Park - Sigiriya

08.00: Breakfast at Hotel 09.00: Proceed to Dambulla/ Sigiriya 12.00: Lunch at Local Restaurant (Payment Direct) 15.00: Explore a majestic 5th century fortress in the sky. Spend overnight at a Hotel in Dambulla/ Sigiriya on Bed & Breakfast basis. Sigiriya Rock Fortress In the 5th century, King Kashyapa domesticated the Lions Rock, by building a palace atop its summit & well designed for its defenses by having ramparts and moats built around it. The Rock itself has its unique identity due to its shape not found anywhere else on the island.

Sigiriya - Sigiriya

05.30: Early Morning visit to Pidurangala with sunrise. Photograph the unique rock formations, the ancient cave temple, and the panoramic views. 12.45: Enjoy Hiriwadunna Village with Authentic Traditional Lunch 15.00: Visit Dambulla Cave Temple Spend overnight at a Hotel in Dambulla/Sigiriya on Bed & Breakfast basis. Pidurangala Mountain Monastery The Pidurangala has been occupied on and off by monks who lived in the caves around the site for over two thousand five hundred years. Climbing to the top of Pidurangala Rock is more strenuous than climbing Sigiriya. The climb can be divided into two stages. The First Stage climb has very steep irregular steps leading to a landing. The second stage of the climb starts at the far end of this landing. It has no paths or stairs. You will visit a beautiful 12.5-meter-long statute of a recumbent Buddha in the first landing. At one time in the past, this statue was the largest brick statue of Buddha in the world. Once you finally reach the top of Pidurangala Rock you will be greeted by a magnificent vista like that from the top of Sigiriya. Sigiriya Village Experience This Village tour begins with a short walk along to a man-made reservoir. This beautiful village is surrounded by scrub jungle, marshlands, and agricultural farms. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodiles only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. You will experience a boat ride, bullock cart ride, rural vegetable cultivation and paddy fields. Dambulla Cave Temple Dambulla Cave temple is one of the most impressive and well-preserved cave temples in Asia. This complex contains five caves with over 2000 sqm. of painted walls and ceilings. This emphasizes the artistic talents of the people living on this small island. Due to its artistic & archaeological values, Dambulla Cave temple has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Sigiriya - Gal Oya

05.30: Sorabora Lake experience with an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast on the rock Carry your photography gear and be prepared for a peaceful and serene experience & experiment with different compositions and angles to capture the changing colors of the sky. 10:00: Arrive back to hotel and spend couple of hours at leisure 10:30: Proceed to Gal Oya 14.00: Enjoy a game drive at Gal Oya National Park Boat Spend overnight at Gal Oya Lodge on Bed & Breakfast Basis Sorabora Lake experience with an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast on the rock Enjoy the scenery of traditional lake fishing in the Sorabora Lake on a memorable boat ride at the sunrise. After a 30 minutes ride in a traditional catamaran, you will reach a fish market at the edge of the Lake. Make your way back to a rock boulder where you can enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast. After breakfast, you will enjoy cow milking and ride on a swing at the edge of the lake followed by a mountain bike ride through the Sorabora lake bunt and over to lush green lands, offering great views of the countryside. Safari at Gal Oya National Park by boat Considered as a major ecotourism destination which serves as the main catchment area for Senanayake Samudraya, the largest reservoir in Sri Lanka. The Park is rich in flora and fauna which is a sanctuary to 32 species of terrestrial mammals. The highest populations are common Langur, endemic Toque Macaque, Leopard, sloth bear, Elephant, Wild Boar, three species of deer and Water Buffalo. For birding enthusiasts, approximately 150 species of birds of 334 species have been observed in this region. Boat safaris bring the spectacle of herds of elephants swimming from one island to another island in the reservoir.

Mirissa - Katunayake
