1 Day

Katunayake - Kandy

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International airport, you will be warmly greeted & welcomed by your very own chauffeur Guide and then driven to Kandy. (If time permits, enjoy the optional sightseeing activities.) Overnight at a hotel in Kandy. (Optional) Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage - Pinnawala elephant orphanage is the place which bears the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Known as the captive breeding place for wild Asian elephants, this orphanage provides shelter to diseased, wounded and disabled elephants since 1975. There are more than 80 elephants that have gained their birth at Pinnawala elephant orphanage up to date. You can witness baby elephants & also adult elephants moving around freely without harming anyone. (Optional) Kandy City Tour - Kandy, also Known as the hill capital or Hill country, is the last stronghold of Sinhalese kings after Portuguese, Dutch and British ruling periods. To the Buddhists of Sri Lanka and the World, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.

2 Day

Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nuwara Eliya. En route, visit Bhakta Hanuman Temple, Ramboda Falls, Tea factory & tea plantation. On arrival in Nuwara Eliya, you will visit Gayathri Peedam & Seetha Amman Temple. Overnight at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Bhakta Hanuman Temple - A temple that has been built as a presiding deity with a five meters tall granite statue of Rama's devoted supporter, Hanuman. Hanuman is believed to have started his search for Seeta in the Baroda hills. The Tamil word for Ramboda - Rampadai means "Rama's force". That’s why Ramboda is believed to be the area where Rama collected his troops (Temple is closed between 12:45hrs to 15:35hrs). Visit Ramboda Falls - Ramboda waterfall is not a single waterfall and it has two stairs. The top of the main road of Ramboda place, there is another waterfall. Most of the tourists dismiss the waterfall and they visit the upside waterfall and go away. It is 109 m (358 ft.) high and has been recommended as the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It is formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Tea Factory and Tea Plantation - If you are travelling on a working day, you will never miss the scenery of tea pluckers working in the tea fields, like butterflies in their colorful sarees. Tea had been one of the main exports in Sri Lanka for by-gone decades. On your way, you will see acres & acres of greenery, tea plantations all around. Step into a tea factory and experience the glimpse of the Ceylon tea making process and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea. Gayathri Peedam - The first and most important temple built for Gayathri Amman (Gayatri being an aspect of Saraswati and the Universal Mother) in Sri Lanka. Gayathri Peedam is said to be the place from where King Ravana's son Meghanath propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and worship, before he was granted supernatural powers by the mighty god. Seetha Amman Temple - Sri Seetha Amman temple is a unique temple situated in Nuwara Eliya. This is believed to be the place where Seeta lived most of the time of her captivity according to the historical Legend of Ramayana. It is also unique in a way that it is one of the very few temples dedicated to Seeta. The place also has footmarks of the monkey god Hanuman.

3 Day

Nuwara Eliya - Kataragama

After Breakfast, you will be transferred to Kataragama. En route, you will visit Divurampola Temple, Ravana Cave & Ravana Falls. On arrival in Kataragama, participate in the evening pooja at Kataragama Skanda Kumara Dewala. Overnight at a hotel in Kataragama. Divurampola Temple - Nestled amidst lush greenery, this ancient temple holds a special significance as the site where Sita underwent her Agni Pariksha in the epic Ramayana. Explore the serene grounds, immerse yourself in the spiritual ambiance, and witness rituals that have been practiced for centuries. A visit to Divurumpola Temple promises a journey of inner reflection and cultural discovery. Ravana Cave & Ravana Fall - Explore the Legendary Ravana Cave and Marvel at the Majestic Ravana Falls. Delve into Myth and Nature as You Wander Through the Ancient Cave, Said to Be the Abode of a Mythical King. Then, Be Mesmerized by the Cascading Beauty of Ravana Falls, Where the Waters Dance in a Spectacular Display of Natural Splendor. Prepare to Be Enchanted by the Wonders of Sri Lanka's Rich Cultural Tapestry. Kataragama Temple - This temple is dedicated to God Kataragama usually is called Murugan or Kartikeya by Tamils & Kandasamy or God Skandha by Hindus. This multi religious complex has an Islamic Mosque and a Buddhist temple within its Devala premises. It is one of the few religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by the Sinhala Buddhists, Hindu Sri Lankan Tamils, Sri Lankan Moors and the Vedda people. God Kataragama furthermore has a link to the Ramayana legend. Lord Indra has been given orders to God Skandha to join the battle on the last day of the war to protect Lord Rama from the powerful wrath of king Ravana.

4 Day

Kataragama - Bentota

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Galle. En route visit Ussangoda, Rumassala, Jungle Beach & Galle Dutch Fort. Overnight at a hotel in Galle. Ussangoda - Ussangoda differs from other destinations of Sri Lanka because of the exclusive soil structure and flora. There are several beliefs regarding the unique reddish color of the soil. The soil structure has some residuals like a meteoroid hit and is complemented with high concentration of minerals and metals. Due to the Martian look of the ground, it seems like we are on a Mars planet! According to the Ramayana Legend, Ussangoda is the place where King Ravana’s airport was constructed and his big peacock shaped aircraft landed. Rumassala - The legendary chronicle ‘Ramayana’ proclaims that ‘Rumassala’ is a chunk of Himalayan Mountains in India that was brought by Hanuman to find medicine for Lakshman when he was injured in the battle with Ravana. Rumassala hill gives you a beautiful view of the southern coast of Galle. The Rumassala forest is a home to mammals, birds, insects and reptiles. Galle Dutch Fort - Galle Fort was built by the Portuguese in 1588, and then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. The heritage value of the fort has been recognized by UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

5 Day

Bentota - Katunayake

Breakfast at a hotel. (If time permits, drive to Colombo and enjoy the optional sightseeing experiences.) (Optional) Kelaniya Temple - The reason Lakshmana crowned Vibhishana in Kelaniya was because Rama had to return to India as he had to continue his self-exile of 14 years to honour the commitment to his father, King Dasarath of Ayodhya. Therefore, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple is also considered as an important site of Ramayana tour of Sri Lanka. (Optional) Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple - This Kovil is the first Anjaneyar temple in Sri Lanka and the only one on the island dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his Panchamuga form; meaning five faces. And it is said to be the only temple in the world to have a chariot for Anjaneyar. Visitors are advised to wash hands and feet before entering the temple and not to cross hands inside the temple. As all good things come to an end, you will be safely driven to the airport for your flight back home having sweet memories of the tour with Beyond Escapes!!!👋
